3GPP是一个成立于1998年12月的标准化组织,目前成员包括来自中、日、韩、欧、美及印度的七个合作伙伴,包括:
欧洲的ETSI(European Telecommunications standards institute,欧洲标准化电信委员会)中国的CCSA(China Communications Standards Association,中国通信标准化协会)北美的ATIS(The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solution,世界无线通信解决方案联盟)同时还有超过500多个独立成员,包括网络运营商、终端制造商、芯片制造商、基础制造商以及学术界、政府机构等,简单来说就是好多公司和机构组成了一个为了制定通信标准的组织。就以中国的CCSA为例:中国通信标准化协会于2002年12月18日在北京正式成立。该协会是国内企、事业单位自愿联合组织起来,经业务主管部门批准,国家社团登记管理机关登记,开展通信技术领域标准化活动的非营利性法人社会团体,成员包括像移动、华为、中兴等在标准制定中有话语权的公司和组织。
2、ReleaseRelease是3GPP工作开展的阶段和过程,但并不是串行的,也就是说可能会有多个release同时进行,因为每一个release都要持续很长的时间,包括早期开发、项目建议、可行性研究、技术规范等阶段。随着移动通信的不断发展,每一个release都有不同的研究内容和侧重点。3GPP制定的标准规范以Release作为版本进行管理,从建立之初的R99,之后到R4,再到当前的Release16。工作完成后,相应的Release将被冻结,然后会有相应的标准协议发布。如果没有特殊情况,即使出现问题,冻结的标准也不会改变。协议可以去3GPP网站下载:ftp://ftp.3gpp.org/Specs/

R8和R9是LTE标准,R10和R11是LTE-A标准,R13是LTE-Pro标准,R14主要开展5G系统框架和关键技术研究,R15是第一个版本的5G标准,满足部分5G需求。为了充分利用现有网络设备并降低网络部署成本,R15版本分为早期版本(非独立组网NSA),主要版本(独立组网SA)和延迟版本。R16完成第二个版本的5G标准,满足全部5G需求。
3、TSG3GPP组织结构中,技术方面的工作由技术规范组TSG(Technology Standards Group)完成。目前3GPP包含3个TSG,分别负责不同的部分:
核心网和终端(CT,Core Network and Terminal)系统和业务(SA,Service and System Aspects)无线接入网(RAN,Radio Access Network)每一个TSG又分为很多工作组WG(Work Group),每个WG分别承担不同的具体任务,以RAN为例,分为:RAN WG1(RAN1):负责物理层RAN WG2(RAN2):无线层2和层3RAN WG3(RAN3):无线网络架构和接口RAN WG4(RAN4):射频和性能RAN WG5(RAN5):终端一致性测试RAN WG6(RAN6):GERAN无线协议
我们常说的RAN1 #xx会议,比如RAN1 #86会议,就是3GPP对于RAN1相关内容展开的会议。会议上很多公司和机构就提案内容展开讨论、协商、融合、妥协,最终形成一个提案。如果有时候一次会议无法达成共识,就接着召开第二次,比如在RAN1 #86会议上大家没有达成一致,则继续召开RAN1 #86bis会议,这也就是为什么在3GPP网站上会看到 #86 和 #86b 的原因。RAN每次会议的提案内容可以在这里下载:ftp://ftp.3gpp.org/tsg_ran/,其他的也都可以在3GPP网站上下载。
